FORT MEADE - Mr. Amos Lee Skipper, 85, passed away at his home in Fort Meade on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, of heart failure.Amos was born in Marianna, Florida to A. B. and Lucy Skipper on November 20, 1928. He was a member of the First Church of God, Fort Meade, and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Skipper was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, C. O. Skipper, Clinton Skipper and one sister, Callie Mae Oxendine. Amos is survived by his wife, Margaret, of 59 years; daughter, Wanda Newman and husband, Vaciel, of Fort Meade; one grandson, Christopher Newman of Orlando, FL; one brother, Douglas Skipper of Margate, FL; two sisters, Hattie Coppack of Winter Haven and Helen Hales of Auburndale, FL. Visitation will be Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. at Hancock Funeral Home in Fort Meade. Funeral services will be held following the visitation at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Travis Risner officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade with military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 2525 Drane Field Road, Suite 4, Lakeland, Florida 33811.
