Eva "Kitty" Mccarty

FORT MEADE - Mrs. Eva "Kitty" McCarty, 76, passed away Wed., Sept. 18, 2013 in Lakeland of heart failure. Mrs. McCarty was born in Davenport, FL on April 30, 1937 and was a longtime resident of Fort Meade. She was a book keeper for Mavin's Furniture for many years and also an office manager for B & W Construction. Mrs. McCarty was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Ft. Meade where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of Fort Meade Eastern Star #47, Fort Meade High School graduating class of 1955, Oakview Quilting Bee's and the Oakview Liners Dance Club. Mrs. McCarty loved life and spending time with her family, and when she was not caring for them, in her spare time her hobbies included sewing, drawing, dancing, music, camping, fishing and spending time in outdoor activities. Mrs. McCarty was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Marie Swartsel, and her son, David G. McCarty. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Gary McCarty, Fort Meade, FL; children, Katherine M. Taylor, Bradenton, FL, Stephen McCarty, Sarasota, FL and Sandra D. Sapp, Sarasota, FL; brother, Byron Swartsel, Dover, FL; sister, Zoah Surrency, Bradley, FL; grandchildren, Mark A. Davis, T'Lisa Stackhouse, Rebecca M. McCarty, Megan M. O'Brien, Kayla M. McCarty and Kyle M. McCarty; eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, 307 E. Broadway, Fort Meade with Rev. Kenny Slay officiating.
