FORT MEADE – Mr. Calvin Croy, 83, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at his home in Fort Meade. Calvin was born March 20, 1938 in Colquitt County, GA to James and Matilda Croy. He was the youngest of 6 children. He moved to Fort Meade, FL from Moultrie, GA with his parents in 1955 when he was 17 years old. He dated the love of his life, Sandra Melton, for two years. He returned to Georgia to marry Sandra on July 26, 1957 at Funston Baptist Church after she graduated from High School. After their honeymoon they returned to Fort Meade to establish their home. Calvin was a lifelong butcher of beef, pork and ostrich. He also loved to ride his Honda motorcycle, hunt, fish and raise quail. He was a Butcher/Supervisor with Kaplan Industries in Bartow, FL for 30 years; Supervisor of the Okeechobee Meat Packing for six years, and worked as Plant Manager for Lee Meats in Zolfo Springs, FL for ten years. Mr. Croy was a Southern Baptist at heart, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bowling Green from 1992 to present, and Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church of Fort Meade from 1965-1992.

Mr. Croy was preceded in death by his son, David Croy; parents, James and Matilda Croy; brothers, Bill Croy, Marion (Buddy) Croy and Charlie Croy; sisters, BettyAnn Carr and Margaret Jones; and grandson, Glenn Johnston.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sandra M. Croy; daughters, Debbie (Tommy)McBroom, Connie Logan (Rich Harris), and Penny Cook; grandchildren, Jody Johnston, CJ (Nikki) Waters, Tiffany (Jeremy) Taylor, Bryan (Amanda) Cook, Craig Cook, Caleb Cook, Abigail Croy, Olivia Croy, Ben Croy, James (Lucia) Croy, Elisabeth (Chris) Mejia; great-grandchildren, Austin Johnston, Aiden Johnston, Peyton Johnston, Mikayla Johnston, Luke Waters, Hank Waters, Logan Taylor, Aurora Cook, Miti Cook, Emmy Cook, Ezra Cook, Cheyanne Cook, Kinley Cook, Carson Cook, Jazmyne Croy; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the graveside at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, October 14, 2021 in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade with Rev. Jay Cook officiating.
