FORT MEADE - Mr. Carl Vancil, 78, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in Winter Haven, FL. Mr. Vancil was born September 2, 1938 in Pickneyville, IL, and moved to Fort Meade from Springfield, MO in 2003. He was a retired Fleet Maintenance Foreman for the State of Illinois aircraft fleet maintenance, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Meade, and a U.S. Army veteran where he served in the U.S. Army Band. Mr. Vancil was a 1956 graduate of Pickneyville High School, Pickneyville, IL; attended the University of South Florida, studying mechanics; youth baseball league coach for 20 years in Springfield, MO and served as president of the organization for several years; and Mr. Vancil also served a three year term on the Board of Trustees of the First United Methodist Church, Fort Meade, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mary Young Vancil; former spouse, Judy Mateovic Vancil; brothers, Wayne Vancil and Allen Vancil; sister, Helen Perkins Wallace.

Mr. Vancil is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Vancil, Fort Meade, FL; children, Patrick Vancil, Sarasota, FL, Jim Vancil, North Carolina, Robert Mateovic, Jr., Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Steven Parker and wife Donna, Fort Meade, FL, Terri Parker Jones, Fort Meade, FL, and Son in Love, Herb Jones, Fort Meade, FL; grandchildren, Michael Parker and wife Amanda, Avon Park, FL, Jason Jones, Fort Meade, FL, Albert Lacy, Jr., Tampa, FL, Amanda Shitima and husband Ben, Gainesville, FL, Amy Booker and husband Pat, Colorado Springs, CO, and Tyler Mateovic, Fort Lauderdale, FL; seventeen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, 135 E. Broadway, Fort Meade. Memorial services will follow in the church sanctuary at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Marion R. Sortore officiating.
