    Mr. Charles Wesley Aycock

    April 20, 1928 - April 10, 2018

FORT MEADE - Mr. Charles Wesley Aycock, 89, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in Lakeland, FL. Mr. Aycock was born April 20, 1928 in Coffee Springs, AL and was a lifelong resident of Fort Meade. He was a retired electrician from Estech Chemical Co., a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, and a 1948 graduate of Fort Meade High School. Mr. Aycock He was a calm, well mannered gentleman who loved taking care of his family, and in addition to his regular job before and after retirement, he grew bushels of fresh vegetables in his garden for his family to enjoy year after year. When Mr. Aycock was not working or caring for his family, he would enjoy some personal time, relaxing and watching the Atlanta Braves baseball team or the Florida Gators football games. Just a short time after his retirement, Mr. Aycock and his wife Myrle extended the boundless love that each of them portrayed and brought their granddaughters, Shona and Sharla into their home to raise. This love of family is what kept Mr. Aycock going for nine years after his wife, Myrle passed away in February, 2009. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Meade, and his trust in God allowed him to be the steadfast, calm, source of unconditional love, and firm role model that his family loved so dearly. Mr. Aycock was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Frank and Myrtle Brown Aycock; and his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Myrle Crews Aycock. He is survived by his sons, Dwayne Aycock and wife Suzanne, Lakeland, FL, and Dale Aycock, Fort Meade, FL; sister, Christine McAuley, Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Shona Tucker, Sharla Adams and husband Josh, Kyle Aycock and wife Kim, and Amy Aycock; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church, 135 E. Broadway, Fort Meade, FL. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 in the church sanctuary with Rev. Marion R. Sortore officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
