Dorothy L. Jenkins

FORT MEADE - Mrs. Dorothy L. Jenkins, 88, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 in Sebring, FL.  Mrs. Jenkins was a native and lifelong resident of Fort Meade, born July 13, 1926 to her parents, Harvey Clifton Albritton and Mertie Sarah Miller Albritton.  Mrs. Jenkins was a loving mother and wife to her family, and while making a home for them, she work at Miller's Dept. Store in Fort Meade, and also worked with the Polk County Board of County Commissioners in the permitting department.  As church was a very important part of Mrs. Jenkins' life, she was a member of the Fort Meade Worship Center, where she remained very active.  Mrs. Jenkins also enjoyed her daily meals with friends and acquaintances at the Fellowship Dining in Fort Meade.       She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Jenkins; grandson, Michael Watson; and several brothers and a sister.       Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her son, Clifton Jenkins and wife Teresa, Fort Meade, FL; daughters, Pat Watson and husband Elton, Fort Meade, FL and Sarah Dyal and husband Donnie, Wauchula, FL; eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.        Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 22, 2014 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 East Broadway, Fort Meade.   A celebration of Mrs. Jenkin's life will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Dan Brockman and Pastor John Arrowood officiating.   In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may make contributions to Good Shepherd Hospice - Somers Hospice House, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL  33870.       Hancock Funeral Home, Fort Meade, FL  863-285-8171
