BARTOW - Mr. George Douglas Owen, 64, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in Bartow, FL. Mr. Owen was born September 12, 1952 in Bartow and was a former Fort Meade resident in his early years before returning to live the majority of his lifetime in Bartow. He attended Fort Meade schools, and was a member of the Harvest Outreach Ministry in Wauchula, FL. Mr. Owen loved everyone and considered each person his brother and sister in Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Owen and Eva Ruth Carnley Bourn; step-father, Bill Bourn; companion, Rachel Shull; brothers, Horace Melvin Owen and Harold Ray Owen; nephew, H.M. Owen.
Mr. Owen is survived by his sister, Faye Hooks and brother, Jerry Owen, both of Bartow, FL; nieces and nephews, Autumn, Ken, Joseph, John, Jimmy, Ivy, Brad, Michael, Cheryl Ann, Angel, Jay, Melvin and Keith.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Hwy. 98, East, Fort Meade, FL.
