Mr. Gerald W. Young

FORT MEADE - Mr. Gerald Willis Young, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020. Mr. Young was was born February 23, 1938 in Freedom, Maine and moved to Fort Meade from Windsor, Maine in 2002. He was an electronics technicians for Sears, Inc. and of the baptist faith. Mr. Young graduated high school from Erskine Academy in China, Maine, and went on to service in the United States Army shortly after the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Avon Park American Legion, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Maine, and a charter member of Retreads Motorcycle Club.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents Note Young and Isabelle Young; half-brother, Lloyd Pottle; and daughter Debra Young.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Nancy Young, Fort Meade, FL; sons, Dwayne Young, Mark Cater and wife STephanie, Scott Cater and wife Cecilia, and Greg Cater; daughter, Deborah Paradis and husband Richard; brother, Sherman Ferris; sisters, Joyce Jean, and Florence Saucier; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Inurnment will be held at a later date at a National Cemetery in Maine.
