Mrs. Hattie Wilson Groom

FORT MEADE - Mrs. Hattie Wilson Groom, 91, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 in Lakeland, FL. Mrs. Hattie, as she was affectionately known by many, was born February 10, 1930 in Florence, AL and moved to Fort Meade in 1983 from Bowling Green, FL. She was a homemaker and member of the Full Gospel Fellowship Church in Fort Meade, where she loved to attend anytime the doors were open for services. Hattie had a large family, and she loved to cook and care for each of her children, visit yard sales, and spend time visiting with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ham and Ida Brown Hendrix; husbands, Benjamin Franklin Wilson and Lonnie D. Groom; son, Gary Wilson; daughter, Della Wilson; and several brothers and sisters.

Hattie is survived by her sons, James Wilson, Wayne Wilson, Danny Wilson; daughters, Peggy Ruiz, Karen Spencer, Mary Sue Camper, Thelma Ann Wilson, and Viola Lamb; her much loved grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at the Full Gospel Fellowship Church, 1795 U.S. 17, South, Fort Meade, FL with Pastor Mark Griffis officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
