FORT MEADE - Mrs. Jennette Horne Lewis Hoffer, 91, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 in Bartow, FL. Jennette, as she was fondly known by many family and friends, was born September 9, 1930 in Cedar Key, FL and has been a resident of Fort Meade for many years. She was a graduate of Hillsborough High School, Class of 1948, and the daughter of James V. Horne, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Wadley Horne.

Jennette was a citrus grower, cattle rancher, formerly worked with the First State Bank of Fort Meade, and was a member of the former Fort Meade Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Meade, where she was an active servant of God in many facets of the church. Jennette served on the altar guild with assistance in serving communion and seasonal altar table decorative arrangements; active member of the Walk to Emmaus community; former longtime choir member, Sunday School teacher, lay leader, certified lay speaker, involved in the Via de Cristo ministry; Lay member to the Annual Conference; taught Spirituality in Wesleyan Tradition; served as a member of the Spiritual Formation Task Force, and served in The Prayer Garden and Prayer Group of the local church. Jennette's days were filled with doing what she could for Jesus and for others, and when she was not helping others, she was taking in the love of her large family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The love she shared outwardly to others, was returned to her many times through the eyes of her family and friends.

Jennette was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 35 years, Asa Henry Lewis; step-daughter, Catherine B. Lewis; brothers, Robert E. Horne, James V. Horne, Jr., and sister, Marjorie Radford.

She is survived by her husband, Dirk Paul Hoffer, Fort Meade, FL; sons, Gary W. Gnann and wife Libby, Pittsboro, NC, Richard G. Cason and wife Sondra, Fort Meade, FL; daughter, Sharon Hamilton and husband Paul, Lakeland, FL; step-daughter, Sally Lewis Van Winkle, Washington, DC; six Hoffer step-children; sister-in-law, Helen Horne, Tampa, FL; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; many Hoffer grand and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 18, 2021 in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church, 135 E. Broadway, Fort Meade, FL with interment following in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade. Floral arrangements may be sent to Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade or directly to the church address on the morning of the funeral service.
