FORT MEADE - Mrs. Joan Kelley Bigsby, 88, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 in Lakeland, FL. Mrs. Bigsby was born April 20, 1932 in Fort Meade, FL where she remained a resident her entire life. She was a homemaker and retired book keeper, avid seamstress, and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade where she was involved in helping prepare meals for church functions and a member of the Joy Givers senior adult group. Mrs. Bigsby loved to sew, cook, and spend time with her entire family and friends. She was a very active lady, and though she postponed originally graduating high school in 1950 to get married and raise her family, with all of her daily duties, she returned to the classroom and received her high school diploma from Fort Meade High School in 1958,

Mrs. Bigsby is survived by her husband LeRoy E. Bigsby, Fort Meade, FL; children, Elaine Umphrey and husband Gary, Boaz, AL. Steve Kelley and wife Cheryl, Gainesville, VA, Peggy Booz and husband Wayne, Victor Kelley and wife Carol, all of Fort Meade, FL, Gary Bigsby and wife Mary Ann, and Tom Bigsby and wife Carol, all of Auburndale, FL; many loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many loved extended family members, friends, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. from the graveside in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade, with Pastor Kenny Slay officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be sent to: Hancock Funeral Home, 945 East Broadway, Fort Meade, FL 33841. Any monetary contributions in excess of funeral expenses will be donated to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
