FORT MEADE - Karen Pierce Putnel, 72, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 in Bartow, FL. Karen was born March 24, 1944 in Fort Meade, FL, where she remained a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker, member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade, and a member of FMHS Class of 1962.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Cader L. and Dorothea Wahl Pierce, and her sister, Glenda Boswell.
She is survived by her son, Wayne C. Putnel, Bartow, FL; brother, Darl Pierce, Fort Meade, FL; sister, Avalea Sansom, Mulberry, FL; grandsons, Wayne D. Putnel and Paul Michael Putnel, both of Bartow, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade. Graveside services will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery with Dr. William F. Ivey officiating.
