Marie Morris

FORT MEADE - Mrs. Marie Morris, 89, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 in Bartow, FL. Mrs. Morris was born July 17, 1930 in Lake City. FL and moved to Fort Meade in 1963. She was a retired lab x-ray technician for Wauchula Hospital and Polk General Hospital, and a very dearly loved mother, grandmother and friend to many people. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Fort Meade, where she sang in the adult choir, a member of the Joy Givers group, a Sunday School teacher and a Bible School teacher.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Ella Pearce Cox; husband, Robert Morris; brothers, Alan J. Cox, Mike Cox, William Cox; sisters, Patsy Colby and Nancy Neff.

She is survived by her sons, Geary Cottrell and wife Sarita, Fort Meade, FL and Bill Cottrell and wife Cherrie, Mt. Airy, GA; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren

Visitation will be held 5:00 pm - 7:00pm, Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 East Broadway, Fort Meade. Funeral services will be held 10:30am, Thursday, August 8, 2019 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kenny Slay officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
