Mrs. Martha Bass Mcauley

FORT MEADE - Martha Bass McAuley passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the age of 87. Mrs. McAuley was born July 25, 1929 in Fort Meade, FL to Barney C. and Ada G. Bass. At a young age she met the love of her life, Sam W. McAuley, and they were married on June 2, 1947 and raised four children. Mrs. McAuley was a homemaker and an amazing cook. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade, the Fort Meade Order of the Eastern Star, and a 1947 graduate of Fort Meade High School. Mrs. McAuley's greatest role, however, was that of a loving and caring Mom and Granny.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam McAuley; brothers, Bud Bass and Barney Bass; sisters, Alice Zoutes, Bonnie Prendes, Lou Sandlin and Myrtle Wilkes.

Mrs. McAuley is survived by her four children, Bonny Maxwell, Randall McAuley and wife Susan, Joe McAuley, and April Stokes and husband Tommy; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2017 at Hancock Funeral Home, Fort Meade. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday from the graveside in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade with Pastor Kenny Slay officiating. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to: Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.
