Mr. Michael R. Spears Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

BOWLING GREEN - Michael R. Spears, age 65, of Bowling Green passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021 in Tampa, FL after a brief illness. Born on October 25, 1955 to Ray and Loca Spears, Mike had lived in Hardee County most of his life. Preceeded in death by his father, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ida Mary Spears, of Bowling Green; his mother Loca Spears, and his sister Pam Spears both of Sebring; daughters Stephanie Spears of Bowling Green and Jennifer (John) Roberson of Wauchula. Survivors also include Mary Shannon (Brent) Sellers and Will (Tennille) Haney of Bowling Green; 10 grandchildren 3 great grandchildren, and faithful companion, Baby Dog. Mike was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he was one of the Praise Team Instrumentalists, playing bass guitar. He was also a 21 year member of the Hardee County Sheriff’s Posse. He was a US Army Veteran, having served as a Hospital Corpsman. After working for many years as a Paramedic, he worked for the County of Hardee in the Road and Bridge and the Buildings and Grounds Departments. Most recently he was employed at ACE Hardware. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 4350 W. Main St., Wauchula, FL with memorial services following at 3:30 in the church sanctuary with Rev. Tim Davis officiating. Military Honors will be given at the conclusion of the services.
