Virginia "Ginny" Layton Bass

FORT MEADE - Vera Virginia "Ginny" Layton Bass, 79, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 in Lake Wales, FL. Ginny was born November 14, 1941 in Bartow, FL and was a 1960 graduate of Fort Meade High School. She was a retired obstetrics LPN for 30 years, working with DeSoto Memorial Hospital, Salisbury, Maryland Hospital, and Bartow Hospital. Ginny was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade, where she was a former choir member and Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Vera Jean Elliott Hall.

Ginny is survived by her son, Terry L. Layton, Linstrum, Minnesota; daughter, Leslie R. Bell, Lake Wales, FL; sister, Linda Oakley of California; half-sister, Susan Hall of Texas; grandchildren, Lauren Layton, LeeAnn Layton, Shana Sturgis, Dustin Moyer, Christopher Moyer, and Christopher Downs; great-grandchildren, Emily Sturgis, Justin Reed, Kaylynn Sturgis, Eli Reed, and Zayden Moyer.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 1, 2021 in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade, FL.
