FORT MEADE - Mrs. Sarita Ann Cottrell, 69, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at her home in Fort Meade. Sarita was born May 26, 1954 in St. Augustine, FL, and has been a resident of Fort Meade for many years. She was a retired Legal Secretary working with the Law Offices of John Shannon in Fort Meade, and then later retiring from the State Attorney's Office in Bartow. She was a 1972 graduate of St. Augustine High School, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Meade. Sarita was a devoted wife, loving mother, and Mimi who's life mission was to take care of her family and spread the love of Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. and Patsy Little Wright; brother, William E. Wright, Jr.; first husband, James Barnes, Jr.She is survived by her loving husband, Geary Cottrell; sons, James Barnes, III and wife Shanna, John Barnes and wife Opal, and her daughter, Jenna Puckett and husband, Patrick; sister, Sharon Campbell; six grand-childrren, James Barnes IV and wife Alana, Shelby Barnes, Isaiah Barnes, Ian Barnes, Karleigh Puckett and Lane Puckett.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.. - 10:30 a.m.. Saturday, March 30, 2024 , at the First Baptist Church, 307 E. Broadway, Fort Meade. Funerall services will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary with Pastor Mark Creech officiating. interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
